NL ) Aanstekelijke grooves, melodieën die in je hoofd blijven hangen en retro synths, gecombineerd met een krachtige ritme sectie en een streven om zichzelf te blijven verbeteren: dat is het DNA van Echo Empire.
Opgericht in 2015 als een gitaar rockband, ontwikkelde deze Nederlandse vijfmans formatie in de daaropvolgende jaren een meer divers geluid dat aanstekelijke atmosferische melodieën combineerde met hun groovy rockfundament. Sommigen zouden zelfs kunnen zeggen dat hun stijl neigt naar de grotere pop/rock muziekcultuur van de jaren tachtig.
De evolutie van hun geluid resulteerde in de zomer van 2018 in hun eerste EP release ‘Waves’, met daarop de eerder opgenomen single ‘Melt’ en de twee singles ‘You’ en ‘A Wave’ (opgenomen bij Wouter Bloemen – Bloom Recordings). Beide nieuwe singles kregen zeer positieve recensies van verschillende lokale Nederlandse radiostations (Lokaal 7, RegioFM).
In mei 2019 zag de opvolger ‘Illusions’ het daglicht, waarop de muzikale reis van Echo Empire steeds meer vorm begon te krijgen. Deze EP is volledig door de band zelf opgenomen en geproduceerd, waarna Edwin Balogh (Tamas, Omega, Ayreon) heeft zorggedragen voor de eind mix. Na een zelf geproduceerde release show in de Groene Engel in Oss, bracht deze EP de band naar meer festivals en zalen (waaronder PopEI, Q-Factory, Elastiek festival e.a.) werd ‘Illusions’ opgepikt door lokale radiostations (DMG Radio, Mfm Brabant) alsmede Pinguïn Radio en speelde Echo Empire in februari 2020 als support act in de 013 Tilburg voor The Last Internationale. Music Maker / Chinouk de Haan over ‘Illusions’:“Alle sounds op de plaat sluiten naadloos op elkaar aan. De plaat doet denken aan een mix van bands als Simple Minds en Foo Fighters; catchy met een ruig randje – of vice versa”. In 2023 werkte de band aan het schrijven en opnemen van nieuwe muziek, waarbij synths en elektro drums een prominentere rol kregen. Deze creatieve verschuiving leidde tot de geboorte van hun meest recente single “Evolving”, uitgebracht in mei 2024. De track vangt de essentie van verandering en vooruitgang, terwijl het trouw blijft aan de karakteristieke sound van Echo Empire.Met hun aanstaande album release, getiteld “This Generation”, gepland voor juni 2024, staat Echo Empire klaar om een nieuw hoofdstuk in te luiden. Waarbij de band hun muzikale horizon blijft verkennen en verleggen, terwijl ze die nostalgische eighties sound omarmen.
Met een ongeëvenaarde energie en een voortdurende drang om te innoveren, blijft Echo Empire niet alleen muziek maken; ze creëren een ervaring. Although initially formed in 2015 as a guitar rock band, this Dutch five-piece formation developed a more diverse sound in the following years, combining catchy atmospheric melodies with their groovy rock foundation. Some might even say that their style leans towards the larger pop/rock music culture of the eighties. The evolution of their sound resulted into their first EP release ‘Waves’, which was released in the summer of 2018 (recorded at Wouter Bloemen – Bloom Recordings). The EP included the earlier recorded single ‘Melt’, as well as two brand new singles ‘You’ and ‘A Wave’. Both new singles got very positive reviews from various local Dutch radio stations (Lokaal 7, RegioFM).
May 2019 saw the birth of their follow-up EP ‘Illusions’, where the musical journey of Echo Empire started to take shape. This EP was completely recorded and produced by the band themselves, after which Edwin Balogh (Tamas, Omega, Ayreon) took care of the final mix. ‘Illusions’ consist of 5 newly recorded songs and is a fine representation of what Echo Empire is about. From atmospheric songs like ‘My Savior’, ‘Shape my life’ and the title track ‘Illusions’, to the more intense ballad ‘Alright’ and the grooving ball busting rock song ‘Never Enough’.After a self-produced release show in the Groene Engel in Oss, this EP brought the band to more festivals and venues (including PopEI, Q-Factory, Elastiek festival and others). ‘Illusions’ was also picked up by local radio stations (DMG Radio, Mfm Brabant) as well as Penguin Radio and Echo Empire played in February 2020 as support act in the 013 Tilburg for The Last Internationale.
In 2023, the band worked on writing and recording new music, giving synths and electro drums a more prominent role. This creative shift led to the birth of their most recent single ‘Evolving’, released in May 2024. The track captures the essence of change and progress, while staying true to Echo Empire’s signature sound.With their upcoming album release, titled ‘This Generation’, scheduled for June 2024, Echo Empire is all set to usher in a new chapter. In which the band continues to explore and expand their musical horizons while embracing that nostalgic eighties sound.
